We are like the Olympic coaches of language arts; we specialize in the complete literacy remediation package: reading, writing, speaking, and listening services for preschoolers to adults. We are experienced with the following, expressive and receptive language disorders (language processing), executive functioning issues, autism spectrum, e.g. Asperger’s, pervasive developmental disorder (PDD-NOS), central auditory processing disorder, language based learning disabilities (e.g. dyslexia), reading comprehension difficulties, and expressive writing disorders.

We bring activities, materials, and/or toys to your Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, Staten Island, Long Island (Nassau & Suffolk), or New Jersey (Clark, Cranford, Westfield, Rahway, Union) home. Do you want us to provide you and your child with “homework” and/or carry-over activities? No problem! Parents and their children who actively engage in the educational/therapeutic process, typically see more progress. For those parents who are unable to be present during ongoing sessions, we will contact you during our business hours to discuss with you how your child is progressing.

We travel to your home New York City (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens, Staten Island), Long Island (Nassau and Suffolk), and sections of New Jersey close to Manhattan. We also provide telepractice or internet online speech therapy.Please note that for insurance purposes, there’s a modifier CPT code, 95, for telepractice support.

We DON’T accept the following: in-network insurance (see below for more information), Early Intervention, Board of Ed. (CPSE, CSE, RSA’s), Medicare, etc. Out-of-network means that we don’t accept insurance. You pay us directly on a weekly basis, and we provide you with a monthly out-of-network receipt. Lena is a licensed Speech Language Pathologist, holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCCs) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), and is a certified Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities. She currently holds a position in a District 75 school in Park Slope. She earned her masters in Speech Language Pathology at Long Island University. Lena is experienced working with children in Early Intervention to high school. She worked with various speech and language delays and disorders, including articulation and phonology delays/disorders, auditory processing disorder, literacy difficulties (phonics, comprehension, writing), social difficulties, and autism spectrum disorders. She is also trained and has experience with augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems, including picture exchange communication and speech-generating devices. Lena creates fun, enjoyable activities for all her clients, and she ties her clients’ interests into various activities. Excellent parent relationships and team collaboration are important for carry over and progress when working on speech and language goals.

KRISTEN H.

Kristen is a New York and New Jersey State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, who holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is certified as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities (TSSLD). Kristen completed her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology at Seton Hall University, and she received her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Disorders at SUNY New Paltz. Kristen is experienced in assessing and working with pre-school and school-aged children in the areas of phonological and phonemic awareness (decoding and sounding out words), articulation (producing and improving speech sounds), receptive/expressive language delays (difficulty understanding information/processing questions etc or improving one’s ability to express themselves, e.g. vocabulary & grammar etc.), pragmatic/social communication disorders and literacy. She is PROMPT (tactile cueing for speech sound disorders) and Orton-Gillingham (OG) trained. OG is a multi-sensory approach used primarily for children exhibiting difficulties acquiring literacy, e.g. areas such as reading (decoding), spelling (encoding) and writing. Kristen also has experience working with toddlers and children who have been diagnosed with autism, cognitive delays, Down Syndrome, apraxia, as well as toddlers who have limited communication skills, and late talkers.

By using a multi-sensory approaches such as visual, verbal, and tactile prompts when working with her students, Kristen helps facilitate progress with the children she services. She also has experience in treating adults with strokes, brain injuries, apraxia, Parkinson’s Disease and other motor speech disorders, aphasia and Alzheimer’s. All sessions are custom tailored for each individual’s specific needs, strengths, and interests. Her work enthusiasm, dedication, and love for speech language therapy helps motivate all involved with whom she works with.

Kathleen is a New York State licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, who holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC) from the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. She is fluent in Spanish and is bilingual Certified in Spanish. She is also certified as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities. She received her Master’s Degree in Communication Disorders at Long Island University, Brooklyn and Bachelor’s degree at St. John’s University.

Kathleen has worked in the New York City public schools for six years, and also has experience working in a private clinic and home based Early Intervention. She has experience in providing intervention to children of diverse cultural backgrounds in for school age children with language disorders, articulation disorders, fluency disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, pragmatic difficulties, and autism-spectrum disorders. Kathleen has been trained She has received training in various literacy programs including Lively Letter, Story Grammar Marker and Wilson Reading.

Kathleen believes in making therapy enjoyable by using multi-modal approaches. She also believes in strong collaboration with educators and parents to ensure progress.
